Peter was a great person, a big heart, a helping hand, a real friend to all who knew him. I met Peter 11 years ago at the San Francisco radio club and immediately attracted to his warm and welcoming personality. Peter served as a Treasurer and Director of the San Francisco Radio club for many years. He volunteered on most of our events such as the San Francisco Marathon, Field Day, the Kaiser half marathon every single year. Peter was there, helping out as a VE examiner in most of our sessions and for more than 10 years Peter participated into the weekly SFRC and Siren NET events. His passion to help the ham community lead him to start the 2 meter critical mass meetups at Spreckels lake. I remember the first day. We started not knowing what to do, I helped him for the first 5-6 months. I still cannot believe that he continued for more than 10 years to gather new and old hams by the lake and help them practice using their radios! His good work even spread on to our sister club, the Marin Amateur Radio Society.
When my family and I moved to Chicago, Peter came up with the idea of the "the amigos". We had a deal, and that was, to get together on every one of my visits to San Francisco; Peter AA6PP, Jan WB6SPX , Jim KI6RYE and I. We did this every single time.
Last Sunday, during the San Francisco Radio Club 2019 Holiday party, we announced that we engraved Peter's name on the San Francisco Hall of Fame Plaque. We honored Peter for his contributions to the Club and the radio community. We are so sad that he wasn't there to see it.
Rest In Peace Peter, your San Francisco Radio Club friends will never forget you.
Antonis, AA6PP
