OPERATIONS PLAN for SFRC FIELD DAY 2023
• All operations will take place on the top deck of Bldg. #211 of the San Francisco VA Medical Center.
• The two upper sections of the top-deck will be cordoned off for the exclusive use of the SFRC beginning June 24 at 05:00 PDT. Set up for Field Day will start on June 24 at 0900h PDT and all authorized stations operators must arrive before 10:00 PDT. Field Day Operations begin at 11:00 PDT. Field Day Operations will cease at 17:00 PDT and all gear must be removed from Bldg. #211 no later than 18:00 PDT.
• All SFRC members who have volunteered in advance and are authorized to operate Field Day stations will provide their own radio equipment, batteries, antennas, masts, band-pass filters, and sufficient additional equipment to permit safe operations from the top deck of Bldg. #211. All equipment must be securely located and fixed in place in the operations area during this event. Other radio operations beyond authorized stations are not permitted at Bldg. #211 during the event period unless specifically authorized by the SFRC.
• Generators (propane) will be supplied by SF-VA. Authorized operators are encouraged to bring their own solar panels.
• All stations should plan on either operating adjacent to their vehicles or from the 10’x10’ tents provided by SF-VA. Tents, tables, and chairs will be provided if requested in advance.
• All authorized stations must operate within ARRL Field Day Regulations. The SFRC plans to operate stations on the following modes / bands: 40m SSB/Digital/CW, 20m SSB/Digital/CW, 15m SSB, 10m SSB, 6m SSB, 2m/70cm FM. Requests for operating stations in other modes/bands should be made in advance.
• All authorized operators must permit the use of their radio equipment by guest operators and act as control operators when required. Authorized stations may use the W6PW callsign for 2023 Field Day contacts.
• Only authorized volunteer station operators will be permitted to bring their vehicles inside the designated operations area. All other vehicles can park on the lower deck beneath the designated operations area. (see maps below)
• Attendees and station operators will provide their own food and beverages. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted on the grounds of the VA Medical Center.

• Bathroom facilities on the ground level at Bldg. #211 will be provided by the SF-VAMC. We greatly appreciate this extra courtesy that the SF-VA has extended to the SFRC so please keep the bathroom facilities in good order.
• All levels of the Bldg. #211 parking deck area are fully accessible by elevator and stairwell.
• Please note that there is a vehicular height restriction (7’ 4”) for the parking levels of Bldg. #211. Remember to detach or fold down antennas attached to your vehicle. If your vehicle is unable to enter the building structure due to height restrictions, park in the adjacent grounds and take the elevator or stairs to the top deck.
• Public transportation to the campus of the San Francisco VA Medical Center is operated by the SFMTA #38 bus-line (outbound) with the designated destination of “VA Medical Center” (stop code #15511).
