Operations Plan for the SFRC 2023 WINTER FIELD DAY
Winter Field Day 2023
All Winter Field Day (WFD) operations will take place on the top deck of Bldg. #211 of the San Francisco VA Medical Center. Official Operator Station List is now closed.
· The two upper sections of the top-deck will be cordoned off for exclusive use of the SFRC on January 28, 2023.
· Set up for WFD will start at 1000h PST.
· WFD Communications will commence at 1100h PST (1800h UTC Sat.) and last until 1700h PST (0100h UTC Sun.) or until portable power supply is depleted.
· All club members who have volunteered in advance to operate field day stations will provide their own radio equipment, batteries, antennas, masts, filters and sufficient additional equipment to permit safe operations from the top deck of Bldg. #211. All equipment must be securely located and fixed in place in the operations area during this event. All operators of club stations agree to allow other attendees to utilize their gear for brief periods if requested and will act as controllers if needed for licensing requirements.
· The SFRC WFD operators will be using the W6PW callsign and its stations will be in compliance with WFD Rules.

· WFD Bands and Modes: All amateur bands except 12m, 17m, 30m, and 60m are available for use in CW, Phone and Digital modes. (see Rules website)
· All W6PW stations should plan on operating adjacent to their vehicles. Generators (propane) will be supplied by the SF-VA Medical Center/EOC. Operators are encouraged to bring their own solar panels if applicable.
· All W6PW stations should plan on either operating adjacent to their vehicles or from the 10’x10’ tents provided by SF-VA. Operators should request a tent in advance. Tables and chairs will also be provided if requested in advance.
· Only volunteer W6PW station operators will be permitted to bring their vehicles inside the designated operations area. All other vehicles can park on the lower deck beneath the designated operations area. (see Details & Maps PDF at bottom)
· All attendees are responsible for providing their own food and beverage. Cooking is not permitted at Bldg. #211. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted on the grounds of the VA Hospital.
· All attendees must abide by whatever COVID protocols – if any - that are in place on the date of the event (January 28, 2023) as deemed necessary by the San Francisco VA Medical Center, a U.S. Federal property. We will continue to update as we get closer to WFD 2023.
· Bathroom facilities on the ground level at Bldg. #211 will be provided by the San Francisco VA Hospital. We greatly appreciate this extra courtesy that the VA has extended to the SFARC so please keep the bathroom facilities in good order.
· All levels of the Bldg. #211 parking deck area are fully accessible by elevator and stairwell.
· Please note that there is a vehicular height restriction (7’ 4”) for the Bldg. #211 Parking Deck facility. Remember to detach or fold down antennas attached to your vehicle. If your vehicle is unable to enter the building structure due to height restrictions, park in the adjacent grounds and take the elevator or stairs to the top deck.
· Public transportation to the campus of the San Francisco VA Hospital is operated by the SFMTA #38 bus-line (outbound) with the designated destination of “VA Hospital” (stop code #15511).
· All SFRC members are encouraged to come by the WFD operation or to participate in the SFRC WFD 2023 from their local parks, backyards or homes. (See Rules website) (edited)
