The San Francisco Auxiliary Communications Service will be hosting free SKYWARN training by the National Weather Service on Tuesday, October 17th from 7-9 pm at the San Francisco Emergency Operations Center. SKYWARN is a program of the United States' National Weather Service to collect reports of localized severe weather. These reports are used to aid forecasters in issuing and verifying severe weather watches and warnings and to improve the forecasting and warning processes and the tools used to collect meteorological data. It consists of a network of severe storm spotters who observe weather conditions and make reports of severe weather to their local NWS offices. More information about the program can be found at https://www.weather.gov/skywarn/.
Please register to attend this training at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/nws-skywarn-training-tickets-38744995324 by Friday, October 13 at 5 pm. Please direct any questions to demacs@sfgov.org. HI Everyone.
Rarely have I asked you for help other than for a club activity. This Saturday (14th) I hope to put the finishing touches on my long anticipated antenna project. Both new antennas and mast are finally in place. All that remains is the rotor installation and I'm back on the air. This will require a few folks to help hoist the mast/antennas up enough to perform this task. I will need at least two more people to help. We get started around 9am; it should not take more than 90 minutes I think. Please drop me an email at: ars.k6bv@gmail.com if you can help. Thank you. 73 de, Tony. K6BV |
