This is an opportunity for club members to get out in the open air and operate in field conditions away from their QTH setups. Pack your gear and pack your lunch, it’s radio communications time!
The tentative date is set for Saturday March 20th and the plan is for small groups to operate simultaneously on multiple bands in multiple modes from multiple San Francisco Parks.
Groups of 2-4 members each would meet at the preselected parks and operate in HF, VHF and UHF from 1000-1400 PDT (1700 – 2100 UTC DST) to make as many contacts as possible on SSB, CW, and FM – maybe even Packet.
Volunteer Team Leads would be selected in each group to coordinate activity at the various sites. Along with city parks, selection could also include any of the POTA registered parks in San Francisco or the adjoining counties. POTA operations, however, would be responsible for reporting their own activity to POTA. Of course, at all sites we would be abiding by whatever COVID restrictions are in place at the time of the event. The Parks-Polyfecta will not be awarding points and is designed as a fun field event for radio communications.
Please Direct Message (DM) @Jeff Curry KK6JJZ through Slack to let us know what park you would like to operate from during the Parks-Polyfecta. A list will be compiled to match up operators with similar selections and then posted to Slack to assemble properly sized teams. If you choose a large park like Golden Gate Park you should designate the specific area of the park (e.g., Spreckels Lake, Big Rec Field) you wish to use. More details will be posted on a #2021-parks-polyfecta channel as preparations expand.
