System Fusion Tips & Hints

Analogue and Digital Harmony
(How to block digital noise on your radio)

One of the most awesome advantages of System Fusion is that end users don't have to buy new radios. Our DR-2X repeaters allow both FM and C4FM (digital) traffic to coexist. Our repeaters are set on AUTO/AUTO mode which means 1) FM traffic in = FM traffic out, 2) Digital traffic in = Digital traffic out, 3) FM + Digital traffic in (mixed users) =  FM traffic out, everyone happy!

If you own a System Fusion capable radio then all you have to do is set it to Auto mode [visual designation is the DN symbol with a bar over it]. This allows the radio to automatically switch to the correct mode of transmission when responding to different types of received signals.

If you own a FM only radio, then you will want to lock out digital traffic (digital noise) when only digital users are interacting with the repeater. Our repeaters are set to receive and transmit a DCS (Digital Code Squelch, otherwise known as DTCS, Digital Tone Code Squelch) code when on FM mode. If you set your radios with DCS on receive, digital noise will be blocked out! Here are instructions for some common radios:
