Repeater News
November 2003
Good News!! The club has been given the go ahead to move the repeater to one of our dream locations, Twin Peaks!! Thanks initially go to Dave Gomberg, NE5EE for getting the wheels going about a year ago. The work got well underway with Bill Noonan, W6WJN, Vince Vitalie KN6GD, and Jim Jackson WA6DDM. It will be announced soon when the repeater will be operating from it's new location and when it happens, both transmit and receive PLs will be enabled. The frequency will be 114.8hz for both.

On November 17 Phase One begins as club members trek up to Twin Peaks

What a spectacular view of the city

Vince KN6GD and Jim WA6DDM prepare the lower section of the 2 meter antenna that was mounted on a bracket assembly. It is being prepared to be raised to the top of the pole where it will be permanently mounted.

Slowly and carefully the lower section of the antenna is raised

The lower section is mounted by Wayne K6VPN and the upper section of the antenna is prepared

The upper section of the collinear antenna is just about ready to be inserted in the lower section

You are almost there, Wayne!!

BINGO!!

Now comes the hard part, snaking the coax through the conduit underground to the communications center where the repeater will be placed. Wayne pushes the dirt out of the way like a gopher so the cable can freely move. Vince is ready to offer any assistance.

After much perseverance the coax is pushed through and Vince finishes up the installation of the shelves for the repeater and cavities. The electronics will be placed on the bottom and cavities on the top shelf.

In the mean time, a PL-259 connector is soldered to the end of the coax that will be connected to the repeater antenna input. Bill W6WJN is tackling this job.
