THE PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
September
As the year begins to wind down it is, once again, time to consider the club’s leadership for 2012. We will be accepting your nominations for SFARC’s Officers and Board of Directors at this month’s meeting. Your participation is important, not only by nominating your candidate, but by voting. Please note nominations can also be made through the first portion of the October 21st membership meeting. The election will follow during the second portion. Voting must be in person by any member in good standing. No proxy or mail-in votes are eligible. Candidates may also be posted in between meetings by contacting any current Officer. You control the future of the SFARC!
It is great to see more and more new faces joining us each month. Don’t forget to bring your friends, family and neighbors. Amateur Radio is a community hobby and service. Thanks for your operating stories. The variety proves that there is something for everybody in Amateur Radio!
We continue in our efforts to provide the best newsletter possible. Again, you are a part of Nuts & Volts. Ideas have been presented to add new features and articles including subjects such as HF, DX and member profiles. If you have a story or report to contribute, contact Eric (K6ELW) at k6elw@hotmail.com . Don’t forget pictures if you have them. The new deadline for submissions is the last day of the month for publication in the following month’s newsletter.
Keep in mind a couple of important events. Pacificon 2011, Oct. 14 - 16, Marriot, Sunnyvale. It is a bigger event this year! SFARC will provide an information table. If you plan to attend and can spell us at the table for a bit, it would be great. Make sure to get your registration in now. For the weekend of October 1st & 2nd the NCCC will again sponsor the annual California QSO Party. As we heard from Rick (N6RNO), this is one busy contest. We have a grand opportunity to represent San Francisco. So hit the air that weekend. Better yet, if I can put together a crew, let’s operate from the V.A. station! This is perfect chance for those of you who want to get on HF and learn how to contest. Let me know if you are interested.
I look forward to seeing you at the meeting.
Tony
