THE PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

We start this month with some good news. SFARC is returning to the VA! The auditorium, however, is still a mess and the completion date a mystery. Joe Johnson (VA Coordinator of Emergency Preparedness) is actually responsible for our return. He has generously donated the use of his Command Center Conference Room, which is very roomy and comfortable. We are promised use of this room until the auditorium does become available. Thank you, Joe. (Details on the web site under Meetings 2010).
The Walk MS event is on April 25th and is always a lot of fun. It is a chance to familiarize the public with the SFARC and show a bit of Amateur Radio capability. You also get to hone your operating skills and for along the course (in the Presidio) and shadow details. See any of the Board members or email me direct at km6da@pacbell.net, if you’d like to participate.
At the end of the month you may be interested in the ARRL Santa Clara Valley Convention known as Radio Fest Monterey Bay, March 20-21. For details go directly to the Fest web site http://www.radiofest.org/ .
A great big thank you to Jim Tiemstra K6JAT for his presentation at the February meeting. It is enjoyable to have our ARRL officials stop by from time to time and keep us updated. Some of you may have noticed that, at the top of our meeting, I have been asking if anyone has had a memorable on-air contact or done anything fun with amateur radio. I do this so others can share your experiences and have some fun. So, please, don’t be shy. We’d like to hear your story.
In closing, I would like to thank St. Teresa’s for the warm hospitality and helping us in time of need. This includes our appreciation for the contributions of Lynn and Bob Jacklevich who were there to open and close the hall, had coffee ready for us and made sure we all felt at home.
