THE PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

HEADING INTO AUGUST

The San Francisco Marathon began with a bang and ended without any serious injuries. As with previous events, SFARC provided their medical staff with a communications network that kept everyone in the loop. The result was a smooth information flow and rapid responses to medical needs along the race course. Doctors Ben Ma and Anthony Luke expressed their deep gratitude for having the club’s participation. Dr. Ma said “Without you (SFARC) here we would not be able to do our job”. Representing us this year: Jack (K6ZQ), Dave (WA6UHA), Diane (KG6QLX), George (W0WEB), Ted (KI6FQB), Josh (N6TZF), Carmel (KJ6ERS), Antonis (W9OQ), Ron N6QGK), Ron (K6TZK), Guido (KE6IUU), Diana ( KG6IOH), Nick (NF1P), Duane (KJ6FHZ), and back up operators Owen (KJ6HMV)) and Peter (KJ6HUY).Again we had a nice mix of veteran and recently licensed operators, both member and non-member. As Net Control and President, I would like to applaud and thank our volunteers.

The 20 Meter HF get together continues to draw attention from outside the local area. We have our regulars, of course, and stations from outside the state. A few countries have shown up from time to time. There is an interest in moving the Wednesday night ‘Net’ to 75 Meters. What do you think? Dust off that HF rig and get back into the swing. For now we remain at 14.250 +/- 3 depending on adjacent stations, etc., Wednesdays at 7pm (0200Z).

Don’t miss this month’s program. Paul N6PSE will treat us to his DXpedition to Iraq (YI9PSE)! It will be a lot of fun. In the meantime do something fun with Amateur Radio. I want to hear about it on the 20th.

Stay safe.
